🚀 Day 4: Air & Space Museum & The Great Nap

Air and Space Museum

Charlotte's Air & Space Museum and Friends Day! 🚀

"What an amazing day! We started at the Air and Space Museum where I saw real spacecraft that went to the moon! I touched a moon rock that's 3.7 billion years old - older than dinosaurs! The Wright Brothers' plane that flew for the first time was hanging from the ceiling. Then at 11:30, Daddy and I had lunch with his journalist friend Lee Sangeun who came all the way from Korea! We talked about lots of interesting things. But after such a busy morning, I got SO tired! I took a long nap from 2 PM to 10:30 PM - I slept for 8.5 hours! Daddy ordered yummy Ssarang Udon from the hotel and chatted while I was sleeping. Then at night I couldn't sleep at all because I napped so long! We stayed up together in the hotel room. What a funny day!"

🌟 Amazing Space Adventures!

Touch the Moon Rock: The highlight of our visit! This rock is 3.7 billion years old and was brought back by Apollo astronauts. It's one of the few places in the world where you can actually touch something from the moon!

Wright Brothers Flyer: The actual airplane that made the first powered flight in 1903! It only flew for 12 seconds, but it changed the world forever. It's hanging from the ceiling in the main gallery - so cool!

Apollo 11 Command Module: The spacecraft that brought Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins back from the moon! It's the real one that traveled 238,855 miles to the moon and back. Look at how small it is - three astronauts were cramped inside for days!

Spirit of St. Louis: Charles Lindbergh flew this plane solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927 - the first person to do it! He didn't even have a front window because the fuel tank was there!

💡 Charlotte's Favorite: Touching the moon rock was AMAZING! It feels smooth and cool, and when I touched it, I thought about the astronauts who picked it up on the moon. So cool! 🌙✨

🍽️ 11:30 AM - Lunch with Lee Sangeun

👨‍💼 Meeting Daddy's Journalist Friend

We had a wonderful lunch with Lee Sangeun, Daddy's friend who is a journalist from Korea! It was so interesting to hear about his work reporting news and telling important stories. He asked me about my trip and what I thought about all the museums and monuments. We talked about school, books, and what it's like to visit America. He was so nice and friendly!

It's special to meet Daddy's friends from Korea who are visiting DC. They travel all the way here for their work, just like we did! Lee Sangeun told us interesting stories about being a journalist and covering important events.

😴 Afternoon - The Great Nap!

💤 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM: Charlotte's Super Long Nap

After such an exciting morning at the Air and Space Museum and lunch with Lee Sangeun, I was SO tired! I fell asleep at 2 PM and didn't wake up until 10:30 PM at night - that's 8.5 hours of sleep! I guess touching moon rocks and seeing spaceships is exhausting work! 😅

While I was sleeping, Daddy ordered delicious Ssarang Udon (사랑우동) from a nearby Korean restaurant and had it delivered to our hotel. He enjoyed his dinner and chatted with friends while I was in dreamland. I must have been dreaming about flying to the moon!

🌙 Night - Couldn't Sleep!

10:30 PM - Late Night: Oops! Because I slept for so long in the afternoon, I couldn't fall asleep at night at all! Daddy and I stayed up together in the hotel room. We talked, read books, and spent quality time together. It was actually kind of fun having a late-night adventure together, even though we were just in our hotel room!

Sometimes when you travel and do so many exciting things, your body gets confused about when to sleep. That's okay! Tomorrow is another adventure day with Uncle Dan and the zoo, so I'll try to stay awake during the day! 🐼

💡 Charlotte's Reflection: Today taught me that traveling can be tiring! The Air and Space Museum was AMAZING and meeting Lee Sangeun was so special. Even though I slept through dinner time (sorry, Pastor Bae - we'll see you another time!), it was still a great day. And staying up with Daddy at night was actually pretty fun! The Ssarang Udon Daddy ordered smelled delicious when I finally woke up. Tomorrow: Uncle Dan and pandas! 🚀😴
